The Vail Valley Salvation Army is seeking an intern for one year to help expand capacity of its Bare Roots Project.
The Greenhouse and Garden Coordinator AmeriCorps VISTA will support healthy food access through education, outreach, and partnership. The VISTA will work with Salvation Army and Our Community Foundation and other partners to cultivate a community where every individual in the Eagle River Valley has access to local, nourishing, and sustainable food resources. The VIS…TA will seek to achieve this vision by increasing access to healthy food, increasing awareness and knowledge of nutrition through gardening and connecting people to other available resources.
The VISTA member will develop and coordinate the following strategies to increase resources that serve Salvation Army clients and their families:
• Operate and maintain a working and productive greenhouse
• Maintain the Community Gardens at the Vail Valley Salvation Army
• Liaison with the Bare Roots Committee, a project of the Salvation Army
• Coordinate the Produce for Pantries Program
• Coordinate Growing Gardeners and other education classes
