Salvation Army Volunteer Opportunities

The Vail Valley Salvation Army has numerous volunteering opportunities:

Office help: We would love to have folks who would come to the offices and help answer and return phone calls during November and December. If they can type, we’d love help with data entry as well. We need bi-lingual helpers to make phone calls to clients, as well.

Unloading Food: We need help the first Monday of every month unloading food from the Food Bank of the Rockies truck to our pantry. It only takes a couple of hours in the afternoon.

Fill the Vans: In November, Colorado Mountain Express and Public Safety is doing their annual “Fill the Vans” food drive.  We need helpers in the afternoon to assist in unloading the food from the vans. See our homepage for date and time.

Ring the Bell:  From the day after Thanksgiving, until Christmas Eve. We need bell-ringers. Starting at 10 a.m. in two hour shifts. Last shift from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Locations: City Market in Vail, Avon & Eagle, Safeway in Vail, Village Market in Edwards, Wal-Mart, and Ridley’s Market in Gypsum. Sign up is available one month before the starting date from our home tile “Ring the Bell”.

Food Baskets:  We will assemble and deliver Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets. All information will be available in our home tiles “Thanksgiving Food Baskets” and “Christmas Food Baskets”

There are many other things that come up all the time, and it is good to have people who are willing to be “on-call”.

Vail Valley Salvation Army could not do what we do without the help of committed volunteers and such a giving and caring community.

Many thanks for all you do!
